Now for my top five non-metal songs

George Thurogood & The Destroyers - One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer
AC/DC-Let there be Rock
ZZ Top -Heads in Missasippi
Dire Straits - The Man's Too Strong
Motorhead-Orgasmatron

I'm just an ageing drummer boy
And in the wars I used to play
And I've called the tune
To many a torture session
Now they say I am a war criminal
And I'm fading away
Father please her my confession
I have legalised robbery
Called it a belief
I have run with the money
And hid like a theif
I have re-written history
With my armies and my crooks
Invented memories
I did burn all the books
And I can still hear his laughter
And I can still hear his song
The man's too big
The man's too strong
Well I have tried to be meek
And I have tried to be mild
But I spat like a woman
And sulked like a child
I have lived behind walls
That have made me alone
Striven for peace
Which I have never known
And I can still hear his laughter
And I can still hear his song
The man's too big
The man's too strong
Well the sun rose on the courtyard
And they all did hear him say
'You always were a Judas
But I got you anyway
You may have got your silver
But I swear upon my life
Your sister gave me diamonds
And I gave them to your wife'
Oh father please help me
For I have done wrong
The man's too big
The man's too strong

Angry?

It comes off more as pathetic, weak, and miserable,All those bands need to be shipped off to a third world country for a year or 2,experience some hardships that real people go through without crying and whinging into their Mcdonalds all day.

And the level of musicmanship is disgusting....

Pfft, i hope you realise how friggin ignorant you sound. if not, i will gladly point it out.

music doesn't make you do anything, it's the listener that does all the work, and if you listen to music and feel the need to recipricate what has been said, then your dense and stupid and no doubt have had a few too many drugs. your stupid tutor was just finding something to blame problems on, like a lot of other people.

Linkin Park are awesome, which is why they spend such a long time in the top 20 Albums, a year also after its release.

my top five songs.

/.- (Fatboy Slim) (fatboy Slim fans should no what i mean)
The Gay Eskimo Song (Corky and the Juice Pigs)
Intergalactic (Beastie Boys)
Fools Love (misfits of science)
and the sound of my own voice and number five.

peace out, that ranting has made me tired.

Exactly my point too. These people can sing and have very good diction too. I wasn't really a big fan of Patsy Cline but at least I can listen.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and so it would seem in the music world as well. To paraphrase I would say that "Happiness in the ear of the listener."

Bon Jovi - "Wanted Dead or Alive"
Kenny Rogers - "The Gambler"
Guns N' Roses - "November Rain"
Wet Wet Wet - "Goodnight Girl"
Anything else from the 80's

On a warm summer's evenin' on a train bound for nowhere,
I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep.
So we took turns a starin' out the window at the darkness
'Til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak.

He said, "Son, I've made a life out of readin' people's faces,
And knowin' what their cards were by the way they held their eyes.
And if you don't mind my sayin', I can see you're out of aces.
For a taste of your whiskey I'll give you some advice."

So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow.
Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light.
And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression.
Said, "If you're gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right.

You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.

Ev'ry gambler knows that the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
'Cause ev'ry hand's a winner and ev'ry hand's a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep."

And when he'd finished speakin', he turned back towards the window,
Crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep.
And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even.
But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep.

You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.

I'm going to list my five current top songs, since it's really a bit hard to name, out of all the songs I've ever heard, the five I think are the top five.

1. Snow Patrol - Run
2. Keane - Somewhere Only We Know
3. Rammstein - Du Hast
4. Mylo - Drop The Pressure
5. Finn Brothers - Won't Give In

That said, I gotta hand it to some of the other selections. Fatboy Slim's Don't Let The Man is quite good, along with Prodigy's Spitfire, and the Freestylers. Much as I hate to acknowledge it too, Nelly's My Place is probably one of the better songs floating around at the moment. Hats off to The Offspring, too.

when i was 7 i had never listened to the mainstream music, i only ever heard my father play his music. i was asked what my favourite singer was, and i replied "David Bowie". i thought i was going to get made fun of so bad, but thankfully no one at the age of seven back then had any idea who david bowie was.

Anyone making fun of Bowie are just showing their ignorence,The man is a a hugely talented singer, songwriter and performer,so many light years ahead of anyone on the current books that is bizarre to think that such talent could be recorgnised and celebrated 20 short years ago but is non-exsistent in todays society.

Instead we have Stinkin Park and 37892 versions of Nelly, and craptallica have forever shamed Heavy Metal.

Gods?

Corperate whores churning out increadibly weak radio orintated music and swinging off the sacks of the suits by their lips.

Its obvious which side of the fence they sit on,and it sure ain't the side with their suporters or fans.

No matter how much shred they unleashed on the music world back in the 80's what they have done since has more then tainted what they acheived.

You legend agent Du Hast is an awsome songAgreed. I used to use a CD with that on it to test any concert PAs i would set up. I really need to find the disk somewhere.... The gentle start followed by the sudden wall of power is perfect for testing both the cleanliness and the sheer OTT grunt of a good system..

*Must find disk for this weekend :D*

My selection varies by the day/hour... but here goes 09:17 - 03May2005:

Rammstein - "Du Hast" (having been reminded)

Tool - "Ænima" or maybe "Third eye Blind"

APC - "Magdalene" ("Imagine" has grown on me though, much more daunting than the Lennon original)

Toy Love - "Squeeze" (freshly re-released nostalgia from my roots)

NIN - "Closer"

I got the Toy Love album because I read an interesting article about the band in Listener, also it has Chris Knox in it so it must be good. Probably liking Squeeze the most so far, partly because of having that one played the most on C4 as well.

The Clash, well there's the standard I Fought the Law and other well known songs, I'm really liking White Riot at the moment.

Frank Zappa. Disco Boy, Wonderful Wino and lots of others.

The Sweet. Little Willy, Tom Tom Turnaround, and Wig-Wam Bam.

The B52s. Planet Claire (a whopping 2m30s before the lyrics kick in), Rock Lobster.
