Hey guys well as the title says I need a guide or at the very least a better way to update my Fedora Core 1 OS other than using that Red Hat Network thingy.

Everytime I try using it, it seems to freeze, I have it running at the moment and it's currently on nss_ldap-207-6, it has been for the last 15 minutes or so. I'm going out for a while so hopefully it will be alright by the time I get back.

Is there a better way to update Fedora Core 1?

Another question I tried installing Yoper yesterday but when it comes to the partitioning bit it goes all wonky and falls to crap.

What happens is I select my 2nd hard drive (sdb) it starts scanning and then comes up with an error message saying that hdc does not contain any partition information. According to the system though... hdc is my CDRW drive which is where the Yoper install CD is... so I don't get it... why is it even looking in there when I selected the 2nd sata drive for the install.

Am I missing something here?

I'd like to give Yoper a try... Fedora is a bit bulky and I've read some good things bout Yoper as well... besides it's a KIWI distro... so it's gotta good for the ol' puter aye.

Well any advice on any or both of my queries will be appreciated.

cheers

YUM and APT are much easier, have you tried them?

See the following threads for some good info and links:

Sorry, that's for updating Fedora, in case it wasn't clear.

Hi chief,

Updating Fedora Core 1 is one thing I did manage to do successfully . Wish everything else had been as easy. Maybe it was just a fluke. Up2Date never worked, but I got all the information I needed to use yum from this webpage:

http://www.fedorafaq.org/fc1/#InstallSoftware

I think it has been mentioned in threads before. Probably by JenC.

Good Luck, Antonia
