Evenin' all,

Thinking about putting together a basic pc. Min 1Gig processor (pref not a Celeron), 256mb ram, 32mb video, just a cd drive, no floppy required, even just a 10gb hdd will do, 17"crt monitor.

1) What do you reckon would be a reasonable amount to pay if I were to find a complete readymade system similar to this.

2) I imagine it could be cheaper to find the parts and put it together myself perhaps. Any good places to find old pc parts online (other than Trademe)?

Maximum of $500 assembled, 2nd hand. It would probably be cheaper to buy as a complete system through a private sale, than to buy individual components. Scope out Trademe, and see how much people are selling similar systems for.

Look at (commercial) auctions for ex lease PC's, some go for a song, some a bit more, use trademe to benchmark the prices but to be honest soem of the pricing on trademe ain't that honest.
