Hi Team

I still use an analogue Motorola brick in my car with a full-blown car-kit circa 1994. Yeah yeah, no text, no photos, no coloured display & no style but it sends, receives and takes messages so what more do I need?

Anyways, I had a windscreen replaced earlier this year and the external antenna was reattached using new tape etc, but some time this week it parted company with the screen and vanished, so now I need a replacement.:(

But where from? When I bought the phone there were carphone installers everywhere, but who stocks these antennas now?

Any ideas?

Try trademe.

They used to have wanted ads, check if they still do them. It might bring something out of the woodwork.

Same thing happened to me a year or so ago. I went back to Smith & Smith Glass (who did the windscreen and had a spare aerial) and they stuck it on again - but this flew off a few days later (never saw either one fall off, just realised it was missing each time).

I went to Vodaphone and purchased (well, the company I work for did) a new exterior aerial part - which came complete with sticky pad and a small tube of silicon sealant. I heated up the window with a hairdryer and stuck it back on, smearing silicon sealer around it - this time it's stayed on.

Smith & Smith did my screen too, but refused to have anything to do with the cellphone antenna because they said "it might fall off". By way of compensation they lost my WOF, didn't secure the screen trim and buggered both wiper blade mechanisms ( the blade holders) by dropping the screen onto them. All in all a not very good standard of service.

Thanks for the web reference WTF. They don't list regional phone numbers so I had to look them up in the phone book. They are a mobile service only, but we have made an arrangement to pick an antenna from one of their guys next week when he's doing an install near my office.
