I want to copy a large amount of mp3 files to another computer
what is the best way to do this? Can i use ports or usb's?

USB requires a special cable and software. Using ordinary cables can destroy both computers (interconnects the power supplies - ouch)

"Ports"? Serial is possible with the right cable but slow, very slow.
Parallel also possible with a special cable, but quite slow.

Networking would be best with a cross-over cable but may require a card in each PC if they dont have a network port. Probably the cheapest option though.

Apart from temporarily swapping over the hard drive, or using a borrowed USB key drive...

You can pick up USB > LAN Adapters if you'd rather not open up your PC...
I'd suggest you swap out the HDD though. Fastest way of doing it....

Depending on how many "a large amount" is, if you have a CD burner in the computer with the MP3 files you could burn them to CDs and then copy them from the CD to the other computer.

You could always just yank the HDD out of one PC and put it in the other, copy the files over and then put it back in the original PC.
