Hi
How do you get IE to ask you if you want to logoff when you have finished using Internet Explorer. It used to do it automatically but now it doesn't.

Any help appreciated.
Regards, Marg.

Tools --> Internet Options --> Connection --> Highlight the connection you're using --> Settings --> Advanced --> Tick "Disconnect when connection may no longer..."

Thanks WTF

Been round at friend's place and their settings have gone haywire. Think it is some sort of dialer, as every time they start up the startup logon comes on, and their IE settings have changed.

They have no virus/adware etc on the machine, zilch. Tried downloading AVG for them, only to find they have no extractor either to be able to install it.
Their son set the computer up and left them to it.

Regards Marg.

AVG downloads as a self-extractor so shouldn't need any extra software to operate.

Maybe try a housecall scan or something as a preliminary.

Had this problem a while ago with my fathers computer, and no amount of registry hacking fixes it. I recommend you search on the net for CW Shredder. This will hopefully clear the browser hijack

Hope it helps

Hi Cave Servant,

Thanks for the suggestion. But reading through the PF1 FAQ on viruses etc, they mention the following:
"CWShredder is no longer being updated, but will still work on viruses and trojans instigated before Sept04."

But will still give it a go. Will also try Trend Micro's online checker as well just to confirm that there is something there.

Thanks for your help.
Marg.
