Just been doing some late-night browsing and came across:
http://bcheck.scanit.be/bcheck/
http://browsercheck.qualys.com/index.php

Ive also been doing some searching and found some interesting Firewall test results (did it yesterday) and found out that only a "dated" version of Zone-Alarm, and one other little firewall Id never heard of truly blocked everything.

I did the browsing from a CyberCafe yesterday and so I'll try and find the tests for the Firewalls, but has anybody else given much thought to their software firewalls (For windows-based users here... I trust iptables ;-)).

Anyways, What'd you all score for the browser tests?!

Chill.

I spent some time on the checks before discovering they were only for Internet Explorer.
As I'm on Firefox, they weren't relevant.
I had to go a long way into the processes to find that out.
Rather a waste of time, sadly..

The http://browsercheck.qualys.com/index.php quite clearly says on the front page "This application supports only Microsoft Internet Explorer on the Windows operating system." So needless to say I didn't try out that security test.

For the http://bcheck.scanit.be/bcheck/ site, my Mozilla Firefox 0.9.3 on a Linux Platform passed with flying colours :D

That site has some interesting statistics (http://bcheck.scanit.be/bcheck/stats.php). Over half of the participants had med-high risks still.

For IE users there is another online security checker here (http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/home.asp?j=1&langid=ie&venid=sym&close_parent=true&plfid=23&pkj=LPPGMSTHXOAMEQVQCIR&bhcp=1)from Symantec

I am running all MS OE and IE with Zone Alarm Free and AVG free.
Guess what? No security problems at all. But what did we expect.

With firefox and linux mandrake, no problem found.
Didn't expect any really, but it's nice to be reassured.
Thanks for the links.

Thanks ditto
My Firefox was good.
Even my IE (when I took its dust-cover off) was OK.

There is a firewall test available at Gibson Reasearch. com.

https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

Symantec also have one, or they did. I havent looked recently. Vince

I think Steve Gibson is a genius and that his tests check for everything that matters. Vince

Checking GRC link with W98se - no firewall - no updates of any kind - IE5.5 - Only 1 port is open, Netbios port 139. I do run AdSubtract & Browser HiJack blaster.
