25-08-2004, 11:16 PM
I am curious, of what radio station PF1ers listen to while they drive or are just relaxing at home etc...

I love listening to Radio Hauraki on 95.1 FM here in Whangarei, it's so awesome that they started broadcasting up here. None of this RAP hip-hop crap.

Keep in mind that I'm 16 :) the next generation :P

I love oldies rock music.

Thats me..what do YOU listen to

25-08-2004, 11:21 PM
MoreFM - then they started playing the same song 1032139786314 times, so now I listen to Mana 98.2 FM.

Can't say it's all good, but it's a change.

Radio will melt your soul, its as bad as television, such a waste of a medium that had such potential.

I find it a great pity that music has been shaped into the weak drivel that it is,the only aspect celebrated is the suits lookin at the bottom line.

And even then they would sue us.

The morning pirates rock. Gotta love the Thomas The Tank Engine spoof.

25-08-2004, 11:37 PM
Perhaps you could find solace in the "national programme" on AM bandwidth? .. I hear Parliament is GREAT entertainment of recent .. with the "Pooftah" bill and all ;-)

26-08-2004, 08:43 AM
yup, thomas the tanked engine is awesome.

*high five* baldy

26-08-2004, 08:43 AM

I was brought up listening to it, and now i cant stop listening to it.

Radio Dismuke, Live365 :)

26-08-2004, 08:55 AM
When we went to auckland I looked forward to be able to tune into 99 FM :)

26-08-2004, 08:59 AM
Hauraki as well now that's in Whangarei!!
Before that just had the PC playing MP3's as all the other radio stations up here are crap and all play the same stuff.

26-08-2004, 09:19 AM
Yep, Hauraki way deep down south here as well... im into all the old rock, none of the newage teenie-boppers crap

26-08-2004, 09:19 AM
The Edge.
Crap music, but the DJ's are hilarious. Recently they got their resident asian to have his eyebrows waxed, and then to present them to Clint Brown.
Unfortunately he didn't get past TV3 reception, and you could hear John Campbell calling him mad in the background.

26-08-2004, 09:41 AM
The radio in wifes car is permanently on Solid Gold, mines on The Rock, and the one at home is mainly on Hauraki. When I'm at home alone, I usually tune to the Blues channel on sky.

26-08-2004, 10:34 AM
National Radio. Good interviews, commentary, and news. Otherwise, Hauraki. ;)

26-08-2004, 10:53 AM
The BBC World Service on 1476 AM in Auckland. what else is there to Listen to???

26-08-2004, 11:05 AM
what else is there to Listen to???

Concert FM, of course .....

26-08-2004, 11:10 AM
At work it's usually tuned into ZM but at home I just play my MP3's and CDs... ZM doesn't play many good songs :(

26-08-2004, 11:15 AM
MoreFM, The Rock and Radio Pacific. I'm sad that Ian Wishart is leaving, though.

26-08-2004, 11:23 AM
95bFM. I've always listened to bFM (well, since 1984, anyhow). There is nothing else for me.

26-08-2004, 11:27 AM
I gave up on radio long ago. To little content worth listening to. Vince

Couldn't agree more with you regarding Ian Wishart. Love him or loathe him, he was a great Host :_|

National Radio. Cannot stand the idiotic loud adverts on commercial radio, but will skip around FM stations to find decent music - and to avoid the stupid adverts - when I am down in Wellington.

26-08-2004, 05:17 PM
OK looks like I'm the odd one out.

Radio Rhema, especially Adventures in Odyssey at 6.30pm weekday when I am driving home.

26-08-2004, 05:22 PM
the Rock 90.2FM, starting to get a bit lame during prime time e.g playing lots of crap modern stuff. Although ive found after about 9pm it gets really good.

Im forced to listen to bunty's big drive home on classic hits in the afternoons god dam he's annoying. Is it just me or is he the biggest retard on radio?

26-08-2004, 07:33 PM
Radio HAURAKI Wot Else

And i'm repsonsible for finding all those song parodys that they play, including the one they had to apologise for....

26-08-2004, 07:37 PM
>Radio HAURAKI Wot Else

Seems like there a lot of hauraki listeners around here.....

26-08-2004, 08:57 PM
I cant believe no one here listens to radio sport!!!!
Is by far the best station in the land. Martin Devlin in the morning, graham hill in the arvo.

No radio hauraki down here but.

26-08-2004, 09:42 PM
I listen to either The Edge, ZM, or play MP3s. One of those 3 has to have good music, even with my pitiful collection of about 220 songs, growing at a rate of about 3 a month.

Hip-hop is cool.

I got to dispute that Radio Rhema - I read up the history of it getting licenced to broadcast 365 days a year just this weekend, and was appalled at a few of the things they said.

Anyway, the stations I've listened to have varied (and still do): More FM, Channel Z, ZM, Classic Hits, George FM, UpFM, and Fleet FM.

While I do resent the level of commercialisation in stations such as those run by The Radio Network and [on a lesser level] CanWest, they are in the market to make money (although closing down Cool Blue was a stupid move, they could've got sponsorship for it easily). However, I tip my hat to Fleet FM, which is arguably the best station in Auckland full-stop. :p

26-08-2004, 10:32 PM
I listen to either The Rock 93.4FM or Radio 1 (The student station here in good ole Dunners)

26-08-2004, 10:38 PM
Well the radio is tuned to Newstalk ZB, but really its just audible wallpaper burbling away in the background

Been from Auckland I use to listen to cool blues
http://www.coolblue.co.nz/ then the radio closed down. :_| but you can still listen to it on internet at the link provided, :_| :_|

Then I went to "Coast FM" http://www.thecoast.net.nz (not too sure what it has to do with communism, his picture has always been up)

Sometimes I go to solid gold http://www.solidgoldfm.co.nz/events.aspx

At work they&me listen to "More" http://www.morefmauckland.co.nz/ sometimes different songs sound the same ?:|

If you are in Auckland and would like a list try http://www.radios.co.nz/radio_research/Station_Pages/Auckland/auckland.htm no dubt from this web site you can get other city radio station listings

27-08-2004, 04:24 PM
The Rock
Solid Gold

Most of the time I listen to bFM.

27-08-2004, 04:46 PM
I have my bedside radio, house radio, and both car radios tuned to AM 1480 BBC.

27-08-2004, 05:03 PM
Talk Sport (or should that be Radio Rugby?) - but when there are too many mens (*cough*) ads then I usually play Blink 182 on the CD
