I'm building a new computer and I have selected all the components apart from the graphics card. Currently I cannot decide between the Radeon X800Pro or the GeForce 6800GT. Can someone provide me with unbiased benchmarks, and what are people's experiences with these cards? I have a 550w PSU, power use is not an issue. I just want the best performance, and currently I'm leaning towards the X800pro because of it's excellent performance with high settings, and there are new OpenGL drivers in the works, which would neutralise nVidia's advantage. I play a lot of games, and most of the ones I purchase will be on next generation engines, so I need a good card.

Well, that's completely changed my opinion! I'm now going to go with the 6800GT unless there's a good reason not to.
I'm building 2 computers anyway (one higher specced than the other), so I could probably buy one of each card and run benchmarks. (graphics only, naturally- one will have a 64bit CPU in it, while the other won't. The higher specced machine will have double the ram the low spec one will.) Then I can put whatever card performs better in the beast machine, and the other one in the Beast wannabe.

Wow, I have never seen such an ATI negative review. Changed my opinion too, untill I see an nvidia negative one anyway.

Sounds like you are going to have some awesome computers there wilky.

uh....thats not a review, its a very biased opinion piece with no facts, figures or reference.

While i would suggest the going for Nvidia for high end at the current time,i wouldn't base any purchase off that pile of crap article.
