from dse, the xh1149 had gained quite a few good comments when i did a pressf1 search

when i checked the dse site, xh1149 is selling for $129 as a clearance product
the other model they got is the xh1169 for $159
two modems have the same spec if you check the website

has anyone bought the xh1169?
if it's the same.. why are they making a new and and sell it at a higher price??

or should i hurry and go to a dse store to grab the last few xh1149?

Someone posted about this last week (or so), they tried to get the xh1149 and was told there were non available only shop models but they could have the latest model.

Cheeck out one of metla's posts re a brand of well spec'd ADSL modem going for a good price, I think it was Billion or something like that. Personally I like the Dynalinks, good and reliable, stick with an ethernet connection rather than USB if you can.

AFAIK The 1169 is the 1149 with the updated Rel 9v5 firmware. You can update a 1149 to this spec from the dse support page here (http://www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.filereader?412887e707c79610273fc0a87f990718+EN/catalogs/SUPDSEROUTERS).

I have a XH1149 updated to Rel 9v5 that I needed to check if it was faulty (having line problems) and 'borrowed' a XH1169 from DSE for an evening. The 1169 was identical to the updated 1149 in operation and looks.

damn we need an edit function ...

As far as price goes, the 1149 was on special at $199.00 when I got it nearly a year ago, down from $249.00. So, even at the higher price the 1169 is a good deal.

I've got an XH1149 - it does the job and I've seen it on special for under $100 at times...not lately though,

DSE are showing stock of the 1149 at the following stores - Whangarei, Kerikeri, Manukau, Papakura, Botany Downs, Quantum - Blenheim, Manchester Street, The Palms - Christchurch, Invercargill.
They charge for freight if you want it bought in from another store. It still lists at $129.
I'm online using one at the moment and have had no trouble at all - a good buy.
