Having just upgraded from dial up to ADSL, I replaced my switching hub with a Lectron ADSL router with 4 port hub. I used to have internet connection sharing and easy file sharing on my home network.

I love the higher bandwidth with broadband, but my home network is dead. I can no longer browse the files and folders on what used to be my network shares.

I used to use static addresses in the 192.168.0.0-254 range, but the router uses the 10.0.0.0-254 range, which does not appear to be compatible with browsing network shares.

How can I get both to work, so I can have my network shares and broadband at the same time?

The 10.0.0.0 range should work. If not see if you can change the IP range of the router. What OS are you using. If DHCP is enabled then setup the PC to obtain IP automatically.

You sure that unit isn't just a 4 port router with no networking abilities?

Thanks for your help.
The problem was Windows XP's non configurable firewall.
I turned it off and was able to see the machines on the network.

I installed a Lectron router but changed the default IP address to 192.168.0.1 and a matching DHCP IP address range. Although the 10.0.0.? ip address worked fine, the file server had a fixed IP address which didn't fit the new range of 10.0.0.?
