Hi,

looks like my IE has serious issues. I installed the Sun JVM and since then Java won't work through either that or the Microsoft VM. Long story...

BUT, back in the day you were able to run a repair on IE. Now I can't seem to do the same. This is running XP Home ed.

So if I have catastrophic browser issues, are my only options to rebuild my PC or use another browser???

Will XP SP2 help at all?

Thanks,

Brendan

Does it give you the option to roll it back to an earlier version? If so, then apply the latest version over the top to try and fix it.

Otherwise (http://www.mozilla.org/download.html)

Unless you upgrade IE to a higher version, the repair option is not available under Add/Remove. Seeing as XP ships with IE6, your only choice is to reinstall it or to try and repair it with the system file checker "sfc /scannow". You can find information here (http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_ie_reinstall.htm) and here (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=318378).

Not repair as such, you can only "patch it up" Microsoft have been trying for years apparently without success yet

(Google is your friend)

>>No standard web pages containing all your search terms were found.

>>Your search - "IE is now finished" - did not match any documents.

Sorry, couldn't resist that ;)
