" While recognizing the security benefits of Windows XP SP2, some organizations have requested the ability to temporarily disable delivery of this update via Automatic Updates (AU) and Windows Update (WU)."

Read more and get the toolkit from here. (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=8bce6bba-ea5d-4425-89c1-c1cb1ccd463c&displaylang=en) ;-)

See what I mean about MS trying to take over?

Quote from MS site:
>>Please note that the mechanism to temporarily disable delivery of Windows XP SP2 will be available for a period of 120 days (4 months) from August 16. At the end of this period, Windows XP SP2 will be delivered to all Windows XP and Windows XP Service Pack 1 systems.

This suggests that SP2 will be forced down your 56k modems throat whether you want it or not?:|

Microsoft got into hot water over the blaster worm etc., so now they're doing their best to make sure that everyone stays up-to-date.

If you don't want it, then turn off automatic updating.
