Last week we had several days of brightly coloured ads in The Press announcing the arrival of Whoosh in ChCh. The ads were in some kind of pidgin Spanish, including some bizarre ripoff of Che Guevara, and I imagine rather offensive to native speakers of Spanish... I doubt they would have got away with pidgin Maori or Mandarin, but they think Spanish is safe for some reason. Sigh. Couldn't see the point they were making actually, but the colour caught the eye.

However, and this is the point of this post (if there is one), the last two days The Press has had full page colour ads from Telecom advertising Jetstream with offers of free connections, and the first month free etc.

Isn't competition good? And don't the b's get away with usury until they have a competitor? And obviously The Press benefits whenever competition occurs like this - those ads must cost a bomb.

Unbundle the local loop, he screams...
