View Full Version : Firefox won't connect after a two hour break

I have Firefox 0.9.2 on Windows XP and find it fast enough but if I don't use it to open a site for about two hours, it refuses to connect and I need to reboot. Turning the router on and off does not help. Any thoughts?

Probably more of a network/router problem than Firefox.

Perhaps with no web activity the router disconnects? Look for the option in the config pages?

Which Router have you got?

Hi KIki
Not a network thing it's too regular. Have searched options to no avail. The router is Pragmatic single port

So when it stops working, does internet explorer stop working as well???

I know with dialup there is a setting to have it disconnect if idle for a certain time. Are you sure something like this isn't set.

Can't find anything that looks like a time setting

Does anyone know of a time restriction before Firefox shuts down???

That will be in your Internet Settings in Control Panel, not in Firefox. It is designed so that if there is no internet activity for the set time your computer is disconnected from the internet. Quite handy if you are on a time-limited plan and leave the computer, forgetting to disconnect.

Hi Susan B
If only it was that simple. I've been right through Internet Settings and the only reference to a timed disconnection is set at "Never" :-(((
