Hi

Does anyone know of a good file manager replacement for Windows Explorer for WinXP and secondly a search tool for searching for files and maybe searching the content of files.

I haven't managed to understand the Windows indexing system. I have it running but I don't get very fast file searching. Is it possible to set it up so that I get fast searching when just looking for filenames themselves, and secondly, can you also get fast searching when looking in the contents of files. If not, is there a utility that gives fast searching for filenames/ file contents.

PowerDesk5 is a good file manager with built in zip compression( I hate WinZip). It also has a better file search facility than Windows. It is now owned but still free from VCom.
To search for text within files I got a program which I think was called WinGrep. I'm not in Windows at the moment so can't verify that. I don't use it much these days because searching for text isn't as relevant as in the old Dos days.
