View Full Version : Migrating DV500 from W98SE to new XP machine

I have a stable three year old Pinnacle DV500 video editing card (with Adobe Premiere 5.1c) running on an old Pentium 800MHz under W98SE. Have just bought a new Dell Dimension 8300 3.2GHz with XP Home edition. Ideally I'd like to migrate the DV500 to the new machine, but the upgrade path looks like a world of pain. I'm wondering if anyone out there has done it, or knows of links (have searched Google, here) to step-by-steps, or has any tips whatsoever. Gratefully received!

According to Pinnacle DV500 with software version 3.0 and up is compatible with XP. No DV500 version is listed as needing a driver or software update and none are listed as incompatible.

Just plug it in and see what happens. It should plug and play. Check Adobe for any upgrades required to their software.

Where did you get the info re the upgrade path?

Check with Dell support or your warranty info that you will not void your warranty, before proceeding.

Thanks for the advice - I'll try that. I got the upgrade stuff from googling.
