Hey Metla,

I figure you've already worked it out? Sounds as if the Velvet Revolver CD was using MediaMaxx copy protection? Bit of a farce, as Cnet news has already talked about how people had gotten around it! Article is here (http://news.zdnet.co.uk/internet/security/0%2C39020375%2C39116987%2C00.htm).

It's in an article on the CDFreaks (http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/9944) website.

Lo.

Yeah,i went down the store a week or so ago to buy the album so i could have a play at getting around the copy protection,They didn't have it and i saw an article the other day saying holding the shiftkey down was enough to get around it.

Which means even if i had bought the album the copy protection issue wouldn't have even popped up its ugly little head,i have auto-play disabled by default.

I also see it went to number 1 in America,So they are ramping up the number of releases with copy protection after what they feel is a mass acceptence of the issue from the record buying public.

Storm in a tea-cup maybe,

Probably went to No1 as several people bought the album to see if they could break it. <Wearing my cynical hat today>.

Lol.

Their copy protection isn't very clever is it. You can even use Linux to rip this one. What program did you use in the end to copy it?
