Can someone outline the main differences between xp home and pro please. Am still stuck in win98 world but the laptop I am looking at comes with xp home and I've been given the option to go to pro for a few hundred more bucks, is it worth it? Using computer for work (accounts software, word, excell an email)

Not worth it iif the computer is to be used by a single user.

And ms have a page that outlines the differences.

And you will find that most mis-guided souls that claim Pro is a must have don't even use the features(nor understand them)

The main difference is that while XP Home is capable of peer to peer networking, it is not capable of connecting to a Windows domain as XP Pro is.
