Okay, I am going to let the people speak.
Please post your nomination, with a link to the thread where they actually helped you with a problem you posted on PF1.
From this thread, I will randomly choose someone as a recipient of a Norton product.
Thank you in advance for your co-operation.
robo.
(now, I don't want people you think don't deserve a prize. This should be positive contributions only, please.)

Crikey Rob, I would find it easier to nominate those who have been less than helpful.

There are only a few of them. :D

I don't think this was a very good iea.Robo. Whoever gets the prize, you are going to make others just as good rather unhappy. Secondly those capable of giving good answers have probably got the "Norton Product" already.
A better idea would be to send a copy of NAV to those who post queries like "Have I got a Virus?
Jack"

I'm with Winston here, chill's the man for consistent quality advice.

Can't post any threads, there's too many but I'm sure he has helped me out on several occasions.

Cheers

I agree Chill is a top candidate. Chill has consistently helped an enormous number of people, including me with Linux queries.

Thankyou. I am honoured by the nomination. Do I get a certificate if I don't win the main prize?

Murray P
02-06-2004, 07:37 PM
Yup, I go along with Chill. He's also happy to put time in behind the scenes with direct email contact, etc, and has been a leader in the Distro distribution community that has sprung up amongst some of the PF1'ers.

Cheers Murray P

PS. Chill maybe we should regionalise the Distro requests/offers? for load sharing & delivery.

Hi Robo
I nominate Peter Coleman who saved the day for me after 104 replies

http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/thread.jsp?forum=1&thread=33026&message=156948&q=#156948

Maybe not all that recent - but he did come around to my house and fix personally - and I still have not met the guy !! - who was that masked rider ?? ;\

Apart from that there are so many, the list is endless - Jen, godfather, Susan ..
>> pause for standing ovation >...

..and would also have to second (or is it fourteenth ?:|) Chill.

just to pick one????

well i have a list a mile long of people who have helped me, most of them more than once.

Goddie, Jen, Susan B and chill seem to spring to mind first off, but there are plenty more i could mention

Murray P, metla, WTF, and beama, drcspy, to name a few who have managed to get me out of some scrapes, and appologies to anyone i should have put on my list who has helped me heaps... and who i forgot.

I would like to nominate Godfather.

Elephant

> I would like to nominate Godfather.

Godfather always has well considered replies in my opinion.

Some people just try and help and I can add JenC SusanB ChillingS to my list even though one or two may be into Linux. :-)

I read PressF1 avidly every day.

I just use WinXP Pro and haven't had to reinstall for yonks.

I might add that I get more entertainment from Beetle posts as I was able to read replies.

Godfather and Chill, have both helped me heaps, at different times, as they have others, so guess I dont' really need to post links.

I am new at this and posted my first question the other day. I was amazed at the response. Thank you to all that responded and helped - it was appreciated. So far I vote for Metla as the Thumbnails download is excellent. Still working my way through the other ideas suggested to me. Cheers....

I'd nominate Chilly or GF - but their help has been too numerous for me to refer to a single issue

Chilly is way too pleasant and unruffled - I don't think I've ever seen him flame anyone. (how do they get to be so helpful at their young age!?)

GF is way too knowledgable and is almost endlessly patient when trying to explain finer details.

They both get my thumbs-up

I wouldn't like to nominate anybody, coz all the guys on this forum are really great and helpfull, but if I have to some answers have always been spot on - from zqwert, pheonix, goddie, STuxxxxxxx (forgot the numbers). I hope this helps. Secondly, I really don't know how to copy a thread yet (haven't really tried), so just type in my name in the search area and you'll see

The way I copy a thread is to go to it then highlight the address then go t Edit/Copy then go to the compose box and place the cursor in it then go Edit/Paste and that'll put the whole long complicatd thread address in it then using "Formatting Options" from the menu direactly above the compose box you can fancy it up to appear however you like. That's how it mostly looks like here. (http://google.com) for example.

I'd like to nominate everyone!

But i'd have to say godfather - i like technical people.
AND OFCOUSE CHILL! I haven't forgotten the uh - ftp transaction - ;)

Saved my life that time... REALLY!

Godfather first and foremost. Just take a pick at ANY thread and there's a high chance he was helpful in it.

Graham L, but it probably won't work well with his Linux installation :-p

Jen C as well.
