I just installed Windows 2k, and can't get my modem going. My board is an old Intel BP810 with an onboard Motorola sml56ac modem, but windows says 2000 won't support it. So I tried an old LAMAQQ USB modem I had. The system says it's there and working properly and the power LED is on, but the "on" LED doesn't light up and when I try to "queery the modem" on the diagnostic tab, .. I get "can't comunicate with modem" . It installed on COM port 1, which is also "working properly" ...How do I "initialize " it or get it to turn on??

Have you loaded the drivers for the modem as in doing that it will often assign a com port for it
