Yes, Telecom NZ will continue to enjoy being shielded from competition.

Not that there was ever any doubt what Swain would decide of course.

I thought Swain would at least ask Telecom to improve on the pathetic wholesale deal, but no, not even that.

Gah... we might as well revoke electricity and slump back into a complete 3rd world arrangement.

I just don't get it.

"this is the decision that has the potential to quickly promote more competition in the long term interests of consumers," Mr Swain said."

yeah, sure, because 256k/128k is all anyone will ever need!?!

so much for the knowledge ripple...

Thats the thing I especially don't understand with this decision... ok ok so they didn't unbundle which is a shame/illogical in itself... but why only mandate a minumum of 256k bitstream access??? It is all Telecom will provide...

Purposely leaving New Zealand consumers in the SLOW lane.

It is blatantly stupid.

yea and also

by looking at this loser Paul Swain, by letting keeping its internet line, how can we ever get fast speed???

and also the CEO of telstra and slingshot repectively say it extremely right, if no competiton, how can we ever get fast speed??? we will just use yesterday's technology...

and i really doubt the word Paul Swain said, it really depend the loyaltyness of Telecom to create a wealthy broadband speed.. i really doubt that.. they will just use our money and spend it on somewhere else that is totally irrelevant to benefit to the customers...

that's my opinion... and i hope other can express theirs as well

Telecom buys cable.

People expect Telecom to give away cable to their competitors.

I'm confused.

From Telecom's point of view, it's much more valuable to sell the copper with a service on it than to give it away.

Yay for telecom.
