Hi Hammer

Has this only just started to happen? There are a couple of things you can try. First of all make sure your system doesn't have any malware or spyware - these can both interfere with IE's behaviour. You can use Spybot Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download) and/or Ad-aware 6 (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/#free) for this [both free].

Another option is to repair IE. You can find instructions on how to do this here (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378).

Let us know how you get on. :)

There are so many problems with IE that to be honest running with Firefox can be nothing but good.
To turn that off rigth click on the icon and then head towards Advanced and rearrange it from there.

Yes as far as getting rid of IE but by right clicking the icon to start the program you can adjust the compatability mode. 95 is the lowest you can go which you obviously don't need.

Can't manually alter the compatibility mode of IE in Windows XP, you just get a message saying its part of the operating system.
