thats cause it was there on the 05-11-2004. i waited till it was on the opera homepage in case they did a last minute bug fix release.

I saw it on Major Geeks but also that it was not on Opera, so presumed it was still the beta.

Couldn't wait, so ran it up ! Indeed looks different..

Yes, a very nice improvement, not that Opera needed that much improving. So here's my problem.
How do I get my bookmarks back (which I neglected to copy and save due to my haste) that I had in 7.23 please.

File/Import/Opera bookmarks. It worked for me.

Hi team

whats the best way to install 7.5, over the top of 7.23 or do a clean install.
In a clean install does one delete the 7.23 version then install 7.5.

cheers merlin a/merlin-nz ;-)

it is safer to clean do a clean install (opera default) but over the top seems to work ok as it automaticly imports everything and the non-compatable stuff (eg skins) are set to default.

to do a clean install simply intall 7.5 in a new folder. eg old ver is default install is in programfiles/opera7 while 7.5 default is programfiles/opera75.

enjoy :)

Have been running version 7.5 since yesterday morning and have found the improvements very good. My only gripe is that one of my major customisations is not working as well as the previous version but I can live with it.

Capt. Hook: Did you install over your previous version or uninstall the old one first? If you didn't save your opera6.adr file then your bookmarks are gone. :-(

If you did save it then just replace that file in your Profile folder.

Merlin: I would recommend letting Opera install itself to a different folder (ie Opera75) rather than an over-the-top installation because it appears that some features are not properly updated otherwise.

also have a look at How to upgrade from older Opera versions to Opera 7 Final for Windows (http://www.opera.com/support/search/supsearch.dml?index=625)

Looks interesting. Still cant see the bittons on the left panel of this site if it identifies at Opera http://www.activecatalog.co.nz/prod/compulink/Products.aspx?catid=47&page=1

Pity they removed the print preview toggle (which kept crashing) and the star on the top icon strip for access to things that are now in the side tool bar. No way that I can see to get it back there again.

Forget the print preview I found it..

Found the bookmarks, thanks.

I installed over the top of 7.23, fitted nicely and running sweet.

Saw this thread and noted the suggestion to do a separate install. And backup Bookmarks. So I opened "manage bookmarks", highlighted my 300 or so favorites, and then clicked "cut". Disappeared. So I then clicked copy, and the paste. Just to make sure.......................

Nothing. Nadda. Gone. The Bookmarks had shuffled off their mortal coil and joined the Holy Chorus Invisible. Deceased. Snuffed it.

I've searched my HD but no sign. Sigh.
Tried to import them to 7.5 but no go.

Any thoughts? :_|

Even though I've done a separate install, I presume I don't need to download Java again? Haven't deleted earlier Opera yet.

Try looking in the Clipboard Viewer if you have that installed. They may still be in there.

Or maybe you could go to Edit | Undo in Windows Explorer if you have not copied or pasted anything since.

If you have Sun Java you do not need to reinstall it. Check that Java is running by going to Help | About Opera and look under Java.

Thanks Tommy but no luck. I tried going back to an earlier restore point (yesterday) but no good either, to my suprise.

Do a search for opera6.adr.bak - that is a backup of your bookmarks folder. If it is there copy it and rename to opera6.adr and replace the existing opera6.adr with it.

Cheers Tommy. By good luck I seem to have inserted my bookmarks.

Getting used to the new style. Hotlist button seems to be gone but F4 does the job.
