Hi all. Got a wee problem that seems to have me. Everytime I nedd to 'explore' my computer it freezes 2-3 minutes. What I mean by 'explore' my computer is: opening My Computer, dropping down the Location bar, any Open File dialog etc, etc. The other thing it does is hang when i start up. This is after the desktop has loaded. I have tried disabling all start ups through System Configuration, which made no difference. I have also search through any services that may be causing problem but without luck. I've disabled just about anything I can barr Windows itself, but the problem still arises.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Windows XP Pro. I have just installed a lot of updates/fixes etc from Microsoft. I can uninstall them though, although I tried system restore after installing the fixes, but that didn't work either. Does system restore keep any new updates??

Are you on a network? If so, you may have folders in your network places that link to PC's that aren't on or are no longer part of your network.

Removing these may help in speeding up the process as your PC won't spend time looking for them.

Ron, does this MS KB (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;173061) article look familiar? It's for NT but it may be woth a try.

Doe you have MS Office Find Fast installed?

MS Intellimouse?

Any HDD activity?
