Transferring my old 40GB hard drive into my new (2nd hand) 1.4 Ghz Athlon system, I had to reformat it completely with fdisk and format to get it to work. I selected the option for the largest drive, but now my 40GB drive is suddenly only 22.4 GB.

Anyone know how to get Windows ME to read the rest of it?

Is it a partition problem?

What size did it report under FDisk and Format?

Maybe you should check your jumper and make sure its not set in limited capacity mode.

fdisk and format read it as a 22.4MB disk too.

I've checked the jumpers and they don't limit the size - just the "master" jumper present.

Any ideas?

Thanx!

DDO.........Dynamic Drive Overlay software........most manufacturers have on their website a freely downloadable tool that will enable you to 'fool' the bios and system......so that you will get the 'full' capacity showing in windows......
