is there a free, simple yet secure ftp server that i can d/l and let my friend run on his computer overseas..
i need to get some files from him..

also it properly need to able to do resume since i'm on dialup...

any suggestions??

I agree with Lo here :)

You can get Filezilla Server from here: http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/

Also there is a FTP client as well

Not quite Greg, as FileZilla allows you to configure where you want the users Home folder to be, if they are restricted to within that folder, and they can also upload to you (Which can again be set by the SysAdmin).

FileZilla isnt terribly difficult to setup, but just ask Lo, he'll tell you to remember to open the ports on the router ;-)

Aside from that, things are much easier with a no-ip.com account so people can ftp into:

Saves from having to manually tell people your IP each time it changes.
