Hi,

I need to replace my home laser printer (monochrome LaserJet 4L) because its crapped out and stopped working. It's used mainly for research Uni assignments so page load is not that high but is too much for an InkJet kind of printer..

So... can anyone recommend a printer say sub $1000 (might as well get quality) for this purpose...

Thanks
Ash

HP1200 or HP1300 are economic replacements for a 4L.

You have had good service! My 6L died and was replaced with a 1200 which is great (and still alive).

1200 is discontinued.

I would reccomend a visit to Corporate Consumables web site though and check the Canon 1210 (rebadged hp1200) range of lasers

I bought a Panasonic KX-P7100 last November from DSL. for $495. I have only printed about 400 pages since I have had it but it has done those perfectly. Does graphics well and script also. I'm still useing the original toner cartridge but new ones are cheap too.
Very good value for the money.

I can also add my recommendation of the HP 1300. I replaced an ageing HP 4mp, and I find it is great - good speed, reasonable paper load. I can also recommend Corporate Consumables for good online ordering and fast delivery. I got the printer through Dick Smith, but a new cartridge through C C.
