Yes Im familiar with the first (C:\Windows\Start\Startup), getting rid of unwanted startup programs (and starting desired apps).

But how do I delete unwanted startup apps in msconfig startup list. I ticked the ones I dont want, that fine but how do I take them from this list entirely.

Thanks John W in Mosgiel

What sort of apps do you want removed from msconfig?

The normal method is to go into the program itself and disable it from starting up. That is usually done from their Options, Settings or Tools menus, etc.

There's a Folder called "Disabled Startup Items" that msconfig creates which you can safely delete if you dont miss the apps.

Otherwise you'll have to do a bit of registry editing.
Click Start
Run
type:
regedit
Browse through:
HKey_Local_Machine
(This is where it gets a little hazy, Im goin from memory here)
\Software
\Microsoft
\Windows
\CurrentVersion
\Run (or RunOnce)

Im pretty sure that's where CurrentVersion is, might have to leave that out though.

Have a look around there. Do be careful, and make sure you export the keys before you hack it up too badly ;-)

Cheers
