I managed to get my hands on an old AMSTRAD PC-14CM 14 inch monitor but realised that the monitor connector looks like a Male 9 pin serial connector instead of the standard 15 pin configuration.

The monitor still works as i used the old IBM 286 computer it was built for before i hacked it open for parts

my question is, is there any sort of adaptor that will convert the pin configuration on the monitor?

The old monitor sounds like it has an EGA plug.
I have never seen an adaptor for this as I assume the EGA monitor wouldn't be able to handle the VGA signal. I stand to be corrected on this though :)

If it's a VGA, there are 9-15 adaptors around. Have a look at this usefulpage (http://ww.acl.co.uk/pinouts.htm) for the pinouts. I think it's possible to convert EGA, too.

Sorry, try a "www" instead of a "ww". :D
