Question is will Office 97 work on Xp, without installing Word 97. I have Word 2002 installed on the new puter, but wasnt' sure if they will get on.

Yes, it should work, but be sure to install it into an entirely separate folder to Word 2002 and use the Custom Install option so that you can opt to not install Office 97.

Have tried Office 97 on XP and had problems running the ClipArt Gallery - just wouldn't work.

Cheers Lucy

That is strange, Lucy. I have Office 97 and Office XP on my computer and made sure to install the older version first and then the newer version into a totally separate folder. They don't share anything and my Clipart Gallery 3.0 works fine.

Thanks for the replies, and yes, will do as advised and install, custom, into different folder. Gee I love F1, and everyone on it, cos it saves me heaps of looking around trying to find answers. LOL :)

I don't know how "Office 97" got there because I distinctly remember thinking "Word 97" which is what I meant to type. :O

Must learn not to do ten things at once. :8}

Anyway, supergran if you haven't done the job yet I would advise creating your "Office 97" folder in Program Files prior to installing it so that you can just point it to that folder when installing. It saves a bit of confusion sometimes. :-)

Susan, thanks for the tips, so yes, I will install Office 97, minus word, in its own folder. After reading around, I have found that it isn't unusual for old clip art not to work in the latest word, but as I am using the newest word, I dont think I will have a problem. The main thing I want back is the photo program, even though I can't remember what it is called. LOL

Susan, sorry I forgot to say that yes it did work fine for those logged on as an administrator, but those with limited accounts couldn't access ClipArt Gallery
