my XP start up has recently been sluggish. I open msconfig and found it wasn't normal startup things like Norton Antivirus components but an XP system service. I want a fast boot up but I also want the cool looks of XP.
Should I try bootvis?

whats your hardware specs?

if its only recently gone slow then more likly your running something new. what did you recently install?
have you done the usuall maintence? eg scandisk/defrag, virus scan, adware/spyware scan.

don't forget to defrag, empty temporary internet files and empty temp files. In winxp these are located in
"Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\temp"
you need to set the folder options to view hiden and system files.

I recently did a cleanup on a friends computer, I defraged and deleted 400mb of temp files and 650 mb of temp internet files. the computer now boots and runs heaps faster
