Should I go 4 fedora core 1 or 1.90?

I have a 550MHz PIII with 128MB of RAM.

Is core 1 more stable?

1.90 uses kernel 2.6 so I was thinking I might be better off.

Will it acctually work with KDE or gnome in GUI mode with only 128MB RAM? The fedora website recomends 256MB and they say 192 is the minimum.

Cheers

And you don't really want to believe them? :O

Put some more ram in and you wont have a problem then. ;-)

Well it is a "Stable" release isnt it?

1.90 is Fedora Core 2 Test 1....... (beta or alpha)

You can use the test release of 1.9 if you wish, but it is a test release using the 2.6 kernel as well as KDE 3.2 (plus a few extra upgrades), so there might be bugs. Fedora Core 1 is the stable release. Fedora Core 2 is planned for release mid-April now, so you could always go for Core 1 now and then upgrade to Core 2 later. They don't recommend upgrading a test release to a final release, rather it is best to do a full fresh install.

128 MB RAM is a bit light, and as RAM is quite cheap I would just add a 256 MB RAM stick to make 384 in total - it will love you for it :D
