I have a compaq deskpro ep with a celeron 500mhz and 64 ram.

I am wondering what type of ram my computer is meant to take?

This is the type of ram i have in atm

Goldstar GMM2649233ETG-7J

I hear some people go on about ECC ram and etc. I know for fact that this ram is pc 100

Thanks

ECC is error correctiong ram and will cost lots more $$, you dont need it.

PC100 is what will work

PC133 is only 90% likely to work.

pc 133 will work, provided the bios can automatically reduce the speed, but it will cost more (often)

compaqs are proprietry machines and often only like 'compaq' parts......of course they're more expensive
dont buy 'generic' ram and expect the machine to work with it......

Get hold of Aida32 to find out exactly what ram you have and try to match it. I recently bought another 512 PC2100 ( had 256) that should have been compatible but they would not work together.
