Pentium 4 = Desktop Pentium 4 CPU
Pentium 4 M = Pentium 4 CPU designed for laptops
Pentium M = CPU designed for laptops, and to work with the new Centrino core. Generally performs better than it's Ghz rating (eg. like AMD cpus)

There is another varation of the Pentium 4 for laptops CPU, but I can't remember it's name at this moment.
