Several times now I have reset my homepage to a null page I have on file (for quick opening, and several times it has reverted to Fast Search <http://fastsearch.cc/ydtfs/> . How did it do this and how can I stop it? I have never used Fast Search and I have a firewall.

Download and use Spybot Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?lang=en&page=download). It will clean out any browser hijackers. It also has an option to "immunise" your browser so that it cannot be hijacked again.

Others to try, SpywareBlaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) and CWShredder (http://www.spychecker.com/program/cwshredder.html) (which has numerous variants.)

Another HijackThis (http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html) scans and reports ALL (hijacked and valid) settings. Just tick the ones that mention your hijackers name.

I use Browser Hijack Blaster from http://www.wilderssecurity.com/bhblaster.html

If it's running while you are online it will notify you of any attempt to alter your browser homepage setting and give you options.

Good luck

Ditch Internet explorer and the problem will be gone.

After using firebird for the last couple of weeks im amazed i was stubborn enough to stay with IE and all its problems for so long.
