Hi

I am trying to record some old tapes/records to my computer so I can put them on CD. Problem is my computer does not have enough memory so crashes after about 15mins of recording. What I'd like to know is there a recorder program that records straight to hard drive instead of into memory first.

Thanks

GeoffW

All recording software should record to the HDD.

Perhaps you should advise what hardware and software you are running. Something is not right.

Hi

I am using a compaq laptop 256mb ram connected to an external soundblaster extigy (which by the way is brilliant) and using its supplied sofware called creative wave studio

Thanks

I am not familiar with the program, but feel certain it will not hold the file in memory.

It should create a disk file, and simply use RAM as a buffer, periodically writing the memory cache to the disk file (every few seconds most likely)

What is the actual error you are getting?
What operating system (Version of Windows)?

Have a look at this thread (http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/thread.jsp?forum=1&thread=31554) for some tips on copying audio cassette tapes.
