What search engines / web directories do you submit your site to???

I hope you do not mine answering this question for me :)

The reason why I am asking this is because I am doing research in to what search engines / web directories people submit they site two.

None.

Reason being, the I prefer to have the sites known be a close group of people, not the entire world.

There are tons of engines but the only one that counts is Google.

If the site is good enough you won't need to submit it to a search engine yourself. Anyway there is only one search engine and that is google... til they start to suck, which could be soon.

If you're really keen about getting up their in the search engine ranks you can't go past http://www.firstrate.co.nz they're great at what they do.

None. That damn Google manages to find my sites sooner or later, whether I like it or not. :-(

Hello Susan B :)

You know you can stop Google & the rest of the spider search engines from finding your site :), have a look here: http://www.google.com/remove.html#exclude_website

About those First Rate people, do you pay them and they do the whole works on your website to get you good results?

I couldnt seem to find any pricing or anything.

Yeah First Rate you pay and they'll get you very good results on Google and probably other search engines as well. If you really want good results check them out, they're pretty darned good. Don't use them myself (don't have any decent sites) but if I wanted something listed up high I'd be using them because I've witnessed how good they are.

But the problem with that typed of sites is that there is a good change that your site might get blacklisted or you site rank might drop.

There's a difference between having your site listed in one of the huge webpages people setup in order to try and secure a better ranking and actually changing your site so is more 'appealing' to search-engines.
I'm sure there was an article on this topic earlier this year in a magazine.

This is the secret of the professional bloggers. They discover all these neat shortcuts to getting high rankings in Google. Think the URL is www.google-watch.org.
