does any one have info on an AL486 Motherboard. It's an old PC, around 8 years old and I need info on how to clear the CMOS of it's Bios.

Im new to all this, and dont know the language, or any safety precortiions. I just use common sense, but I think my common is not other peoples common.

I did it on my MSI 6117, it was called the JBAT. On my manual it looked a bit like your J5.

Mine had 3 pins, or 3 sets of pins, I cant remember. I dunno if they are actually called pins, but they were little metal bits sticking out of the motherboard, so I called them pins.

There was a little green, ummm... covering/sleeve/something over the top two pins, and I gently pulled it off, and put it on the bottom two. Just to make it a bit clearer, because ther were 3 pins, the sleeve whatsit was pulled off 1 and 2, and put on 2 and 3.

Then put it back to the original thing, which in my case was 1 and 2.

Turn on your computer.

Sorry if this post was dumb in any sense, but I am a beginner.

Go here (http://mobokive.dyndns.org/Archive/Ecs%20-%20Elitegroup/manual/AL486-VIO/al_486-vio.pdf) for a copy of the manual. It is 1.5Meg, and in PDF format.
Have fun.

Yeah, i tried that, but it had nothing about the bios.
But i did disconnect the battery for a few hours, then a day and then i just left the battery out for ages :| and forgot about and voila!
