Hi, I am adding a second hard drive to my computer but the two clash for some reason. Is there any problems with putting one hard drive and the CDRW on one ribbon cable and the other hard drive on another. If thats ok can I put my CD with that HD too.
Thanks

The clashes you're having are probably jumper settings. For each cable, one drive has to be set to Master, and one to be set to Slave (instructions usually printed on the top of the drives).

Theoretically there isn't a problem, but some people argue that having a CDRW or CD ROM drive on the same cable as the hard drive will slow the hard drive down. If you're not too concerned about that, then go ahead. The best way would be to correct the jumper settings so you can have the two hard drives on one ribbon cable, and the CD ROM and CDRW drives on the other. Note that the hard drive which has Windows (or your OS) must be Primary channel and Master.
