I have just fitted network cards to two computers & linked them with a crossover cable.
Both systems are fully accessable but I can't get any games to link up.

Righto then. :) What games are you trying to play? And what Operating System's are running on the two computers?

If its some older games, you might want to install the IPX/SPX protocol so they connect properly. For newer games you probably just need TCP/IP. Do you know how to install new protocols?

Have a read of the PF1 Networking FAQ and follow it through.

Are the drivers installed fine for the two cards, and functioning properly? Check in the device manager to see if they are going properly.

Now in your connection/network settings, you want the computers to have different IPs of 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.1.1. Make sure they have the same subnet mask: 255.255.255.0. Then make them in the same Workgroup.

Ensure you have firewalls disabled for the LAN connection while your at it.

Thank you.
The IPX/SPX protocol did the trick.
Nascar 4 seems to go ok anyway, havent tried any others yet.
I'm an old dog who likes to learn new tricks.
