I just scanned my xp machine with Spybot and it detected the following:
1. Alexa Related 2. DSO Exploid and 3. Windows Media Player - client I/D

Are these safe to remove?

Cheers

I usually let Spybot remove everything it finds.
(It hasn't let me down yet)
I figure the worst that can happen is one of my programs stop working and if it requires the spyware to run then I probably don't want it anyway.
There is also the "Recovery" option within Spybot to backtrack if you need to.

Yeah quite safe. 1 and 3 are to do with the ability of identifying your PC by a unique number. 2 is a possible exploit that could be used by some unscrupulous person.

This is part of IE (every computer which has windows & IE has this)

Alexa related only comes with IE 6 actually (May be only SP1, not too sure)

The DSO Exploit allows a hacker with a carefully written script on their page to run an application on your PC.

The third is simply from WMP9 AFAIK, You will have allowed a few things when setting it up that SpyBot S&D doesnt deem 100% safe.

Remove the lot!

You should be able to click on each file and click "Description of this Product" and it'll tell you more about it AFAIK :-)

Be aware that Alexa returns whenever a repair or update of Internet Explorer is performed.
