You are sort of correct there,

MSN will be removing the Unmoderated rooms but there will be Moderator room 's

but there is a thread on this (http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/thread.jsp?forum=1&thread=39758&message=200883)

they not actually removing chatrooms, well here yes and australia etc, but in the states and some other places they would be making it a "pay" service...

its only being done to stop the sexual predators lurking around..

but they havent stopped yahoo, so if you want a chatroom go to chat.yahoo.com or www.yahoo.com and fnd the yahoo chatroom link...

and the removal..hasnt happened yet, i think this month sometime...but theres millions other chatrooms around so yeah...

and i think that some msn chatrooms will still be availabe in nz, only if it has some host or something, i not entirely sure... you should b able to find information on xtra.co.nz or something...

08-10-2003, 01:40 PM
and see this thread (http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/thread.jsp?forum=1&thread=39774&message=200987) for more chat rooms....

moderated is someone who is responsible for the room...
say if someone swore in the room and it was against the rules then moderater would just kick them out for a length of time if any...

and i dont know how they gonna do it but i think its gonna b something 2 do with microsoft, maybe they gonna make their own moderator bots....

> whats a unmoderated and whats a moderated room.?

For instants chat F1 ( http://www.chatf1.net.nz) is a moderated room and a yahoo chat room is a unmoderated room

>Msn rooms are hosted by anyone at all.:S

Yes there are hosted by MSN & MS

Ehh still don't get u.Bothe of them u need to login to access the room so...whats the difference?

08-10-2003, 01:48 PM
Oh i get u csinclair.Does that mean u won't be able to create rooms anymore?MAn i really wanna know what happens after the 14th.

08-10-2003, 01:48 PM
yeah u still need to log in no matter what...
its just part of the system..
and thats got nothing to do with moderator or unmoderated.
its the same with yahoo games, or email check or chatrooms, or website access like this....

this is a moderated website...and u need a password to access,

so all u can do is behave in the msn chatrooms that are still open and dont worry about it..

just been surfing trying to find some information for you regarding chatrooms..

this on xtramsn.co.nz..and i beleive it would mean you wont be able to make ur own chatroom, but just gotta stick with what they have etc...and this is nz related so its free moderated, just behave and theres nthing to worry about..

As part of an overall effort by XtraMSN and Microsoft to provide consumers with a safer, more secure and positive online experience, XtraMSN is changing how we offer XtraMSN Chat.

Beginning October 14 2003, un-moderated XtraMSN Chat will no longer be offered in this market. This change is intended to help protect users from unsolicited information such as spam and to better protect children from inappropriate communication online.

Consumers will still be able to participate in free moderated chat rooms.

hope that answers ur questions :-)

In msn messenger and yahoo u need to log in with a password too to be able to go into a chat room so.... what stu wrote was the same thing

08-10-2003, 02:04 PM
i think ur confsing urself with passwords in relevance to whats happening to msn chatrooms..as passwords dont have anything to do with it..

all thats happening is ...u wont b able to make ur own chatrooms on msn.cm anymore, and the moderated chatrooms would still be free, just free of spam and those porno messages, and it would be moderated (watched over) by some one via microsoft, so if you decide to spam the room with porn messages, byebye ur oout of the room.....for a bit...

but yahoo and any other chatrooms not related to microsoft at any way will be continuing at normal...
