Hi all, can anyone tell me if the free Avast4 anti virus scan is enough to keep my computer safe. Has anyone had any problems with it.
Thanks.

i personally found avast a bit of a resource hog but its not bad, it did not at the time run well with my os (98se), or comp.
i prefer avg its also free. And i found it caused me less problems.
And i tend to think no antivirus is 100%.
so i would say if you like it and it goes well for you keep it.

Hi jebby,
Welcome to the forum,

If you are looking for[b] Free,[b/] Anti-virus scanners,my choice would be Avast4 or Grisoft's, AVG,both being reasonably easy to configure and use.

I have been using Avast4 for last 7-8 months and monitoring feedback from other users, none of whom have had any problems.

IMHO,for better protection,I believe the best antivirus application is
Norton AV,but it "costs", with renewal charges every 12 months!and have
been told that on some computers there can be conflicts with other
applications?

Hope this helps,Cheers,Kiwitas,;-)

if your that worried type avast 4 reviews into google. It always comes up with good info, and really it comes down to personal opinion.

Thank you all for the feedback, you have reassured me. I installed Avast a couple of weeks ago after my second 12 months Mcafee expired & being a light user decided to try a freebie. Thanks again.
