Hi all

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement Battery Pack for a Toshiba Satellite 2590 XDVD laptop pc?

The pc is about 5-years old and only used for word-processing and email.

Will it be more economical to dump the laptop and buy a desktop pc?

TIA. Peter.

Think $200+. If you use the computer only when plugged into the mains, just don't bother with a battery. If you use it as a battery powered portable, there are a number of firms around who will replace the cells (if it's NiCd or NiMH). Battery Masta in Christchurch is one ... there are several in Auckland. You can replace the cells yourself, but it might cost you more to buy the cells than a professional would charge. And they can do a neater job of breaking into and resealing the battery case.

If you enter the "Toshiba satellite 2590 battery" to google, you will find the overseas alternative suppliers. Their prices will please you, but check on the freight costs ... that could spoil your day. :D

Thanks Graham L.

DSE managed to locate and order a battery pack for $120.00.

My 83-year-old neighbour needs to use the laptop literally on his lap, with his feet raised. His only other option would be a desk-top with a wireless keyboard.
