My brother, a rather novice internet user (less than 12 months), unsubscribed to some spammers. His SPAM subsequently stopped and has been like that for over 4-5 months now. This is contrary to accepted internet wisdom. I suspect he was very lucky or he encountered good spammer ?!?

Does anyone else know of someone with a similar experience ?

Never

I once tried that about 2 years ago thinking it would work.

It made the situation a hell of a lot worse in that when you try to "unsubscribe" to spam your actually letting them know that your e.mail address is valid and they'll spam you to death from there on ..

Not worth it.. the best spam protection is still the delete key

Nope: I suspect it's one of these things that always happens to someone's brother, or a friend of their uncle... :-)
