I have a Powerbook G4 with both OS10.2 and OS 9.2.2
I'm trying to use an 80gb External Firewire Hard Disk.

The Drive is formatted as Mac OS Extended.

When I use the external drive in OSX it works fine, but it will not mount under 9.2.2 if I unplug the device from the mac when 9.2.2 is running it displays the standard Firewire device unplugged message!!!

I've run Software update to bring the system up to the latest and greatest and checked Extensions Manager (all switched on)

If I Plug this drive into any of our other Macs all G4 desktops running only OS 9.2.1 it works fine.

Any ideas.

most people around here are PC not mac so dont expect and quick responce :-)

as for help.....

is there a driver you need??
is there a knowen bug in OS 9.2.2 that got fixed in OSX
is there a problem with your firewire port? do other devices work in it?

Still worth a try

>>is there a driver you need??
No driver needed on any of the other macs

OSX is a brand new os not an upgrade (Its like if windows 2005 was Linux) you can't compare these OS's

Extn drive works fine in OSX plugged into the same port.

Thanks

It has to be some configuration problem in the Power Book OS9

Have another close look in the Extensions Manager, is Firewire Authoring Support enabled and USB Authoring Support enabled.

Are there any other Firewire extensions of a different version that are currently disabled which you could try.
