In win98se I installed a dual boot mandrake linux. Lack of disk space caused me to have to disinstall it. I reclaimed the disk space and everything is running normally in windows, but on start up, I still get the windows/linux selection screen.
I suspect this is a boot.ini problem, but even after searching the boot.ini thread, I cant find the answer to my problem which is:

How do I access boot.ini? (I've checked the show hidden files radio button in explorer, but it doesn't appear)

What do I do once I'm in there?

If not boot.ini, what else?

To remove the Linux bootmanager (Lilo or Grub), you will need to re-write the master boot record (MBR) using fdisk. You will need a startup floppy disk. Enter fdisk /mbr at the prompt. It only takes seconds.

As with all things, make sure your important files are backed-up first before running this command.
