Greetings from Wgtn on another fine crisp winters day.

Anyway, has anyone come across a website which lists popular search engines that New Zealanders use and what percentage use them (ok I don't know how they would track this information, but that is what I would like). I have a list of the most popular search engines but not in any particular order, i.e. is XtraMSN the most popular (Xtra would like to think so).

Thanks.

I use www.google.co.nz and if I am looking for NZ specific, I prefix my search with NZ (e.g. "NZ vineyards", "NZ News", etc.)

I use www.searchnz.co.nz first for NZ sites then over to google nz for further searching. Allways found what I'm looking for NZ wise in these 2 sites.

You can also use:
Search for this site:nz
adding site:nz will search for websites ending in *.nz iirc :-)

For me, Google rules the roost!

When we use to run SearchNZ I'd benchmark it against Google. Google's NZ results are damn good and if you go to www.google.co.nz instead of .com they just have a simple radio button to enable NZ searches only.

OT: question:

What happened to all the sites that where listed in the searchnow database??? Did they get sold to Altavista???

I use
Searchnz (http://www.searchnz.co.nz)
which seems good. I am far from knowledgable on this but it has done fine for what I want.

Reach it through my homepage which is
Nzcity (http://home.nzcity.co.nz)
I really think that using this home page I have the best of all worlds
(1) Easy access to NZ (as sites etc also a search available)
(2) Easy access from there as Google, Excite etc available from the same page.
(3) My 20 top favourites available as a click from the right hand side of the page (as you customise)
(4) One click to check weather

Need I go on ??

But I digress, the question is about searching in NZ, and you can carry out three different types of search in NZ from this same homepage.
Great !!

:) :)
