I have a AMD Athlon XP2600 which has on board sound... But I was more happy with the way my Soundblaster PCI 128 card sounded on my old computer.

Am I able to install it and run both, having the option to choose between both?

Thanks in advance for any help....

P.S. Is it just me or does anyone else have any trouble getting the FAQ's to load?

Check the motherboard manual.

Yes, PC World staff know about the FAQS loading slow, & there has been a few post as well about it, do a search to find them.

Your best bet is to check in the BIOS to see if you can disable it, this causes the least hassle

Otherwise, simply install the new soundcard, reboot... Run Add New Hardware to make sure its found everything.

Now, you didnt state your OS, so here's how to do it in WinXP:
Click Start
Control Panel
Make sure Classic View is enabled
Click on Sounds and Audio Devices
Click on the Audio tab
Select from the drop-down list the soundcard you wish to use. You may have to close relevant sound applications for changes to take effect, but you should be peachy :-)

I run my On-Board AC '97 in conjunction with my SB!Liev 5.1 channel soundcard, and if you have WinXP, its fun having 2 users, with each using a different soundcard... I can think of a number of uses... ;-)

Hope this helps
